Thunder only happens when it's raining...

Disgusting weather, frustration at work, an annoying crowd and a pitiful sound system is what plagued me even before I listened to the first beat of Kurt's drum for the New Pornographers concert at Webster Hall. I was waiting to be disappointed yet again as I've been waiting in vain to see Neko since her last stop in New York in February.

Then, just as AC Newman started playing Full Blown Speakers with a resplendent Neko on tambourine, I was struck. The energy that came out of the stage was nothing compared to the previous times I've seen them. The crowd roared while they danced and sang along to every tune. They felt complete and GOPster was happy.

Two encores later, I'm home writing this short entry and examining tonight's pictures. A detailed review may or may not come but pictures will definitely follow.

Talking points:

1. Immaculate Destroyer - Interesting sound. Katherine seems too quiet to keep up with the band's gritty niche which fits the band's name. Tried to take a pic of drummer with dual nipple piercings and Aryan-like tattoo on chest.

2. Destroyer - Makes me want to get another Destroyer album after being disappointed by an LP. Bejar is just a talented song writer.

3. The New Pornographers - Katherine takes a back seat. Neko's center stage with a yellow gown a la Stevie Nicks. Did NOT sing The Carrs - My Best Friend's Girl again. However, Neko did sing Dreams for an encore while Kurt gave away Pringles chips to the crowd. The sound was horrible but it was still enjoyable. We'll see what happens tomorrow when I change my position.
