Canadian Invasion!
The New Pornographers - June 25th, 2005 - Prospect Park
I just got back from a rather amusing night at Celebrate Brooklyn in Prospect Park. It started out as a lazy summer evening out in Brooklyn listening to three Canadian bands: the Sadies, the Stars, and the New Pornographers. I was lucky enough to have a bracelete which allowed me to skip the line and go directly to my seat and wait for the performers. The place was swelled to around 8,000 people which was insane. There was an unually long line at 6:00 PM and if you wanna see how big the crowd could get check out this guy's pic from another concert on a different day. The trees are covering the stage on the far left.
The Sadies and the Stars performed beautifully and then the New Pornographers came on. Fans rushed the stage and jumped the barricades as they were playing Mass Romantic. These fans were obsessed. I'm not talking 10 or 15 here, there were at least about 70 people. There were only three security people in the area and they reacted slowly. One idiot decided to climb the stage and dive into the crowd. I could have cared less but there was a great concern about safety. There were a handful of kids in the area and these hipster acted like complete asses with total disregard for their safety. I hope they arrrest him for reckless endangerment. If I had a kid there, there would be at least dozen hipsters who'd come home with their white belts wrapped around their necks. I'm being a little too harsh here and I sound like I'm angry but I just absolutely felt bad for those parents.

Nope, I missed it. Would you believe I haven't been to one yet? I've always wanted to go to the Halloween one too...
