B-A-B-Y, I want to have your baby!

The Brunettes - May 27th, 2005 - Webster Hall

I arrived incredibly early for the Rilo Kiley show at Webster Hall. After seeing Bright Eyes on Wednesday, I was none too pleased to be coming back. But then I remembered the Brunettes were opening for them!

I was amused at the amount of flowers thrown at Brunette Harry and Brunette Heather. There was this cute lesbian couple who were so in love with Brunette Heather. Their conversation sounded like this:

Can we get closer?
Oh she's so hot. I just wanna *makes a grabbing motion at Brunette Heather*
That wasn't very embarassing.
She is SO HOT

Sadly they were two Kiwis short of their normal seven-man band. My only complaint is that they're not a good band to see at Webster Hall. It's too big of a venue for them and they have so many instruments.

Their set really didn't vary much from the Shins show, but I didn't mind. They opened with their B-A-B-Y song which is just oh so cute! I just love the cheerleader signing they all do. They ended with the Mary Kate and Ashley song and yes, they did wear those masks again. Poppy. Sweet. Dorky. My kind of music.

I'm pining to go to their Mercury Lounge show on Monday, but we'll see what happens. I still need to buy their albums.
