you are the only one i love, the only one i love
I'm always cautious of talk of the Next Big Thing. Yesterday, I managed to see the girl everyone is talking about in NYC, Jamie Kristine Seerman (AKA Jaymay). It was her second to last stint at the Living Room and the place was packed. Her voice is definitely impressive but not unique: a mix between Fiona Apple, Nellie McKay, and Regina Spektor. Critics have been saying that girls with guitars are a dime a dozen in New York, but she's managed to stand out - supposedly. The songs on her live sets are on my iPod rotation and she has this aura of sweetness surrounding her, but we'll see once she gets signed if I'll start worshiping her like Neko.
