i want miss little smart girl with your glasses and all your books
After seeing the Raveonettes, I caught a J to the Bowery Ballroom to see Louis XIV. I didn't get any pics of them last night as there were many "No cameras or recording of any kind" posters at the Bowery which kind of bothered me and the fact that I didn't want to be too close to the stage as it was filled with a contigency of pre-teenie boppers. I only got to listen to one of Nic Armstrong's songs before they left and I liked it.
Runner and the Thermodynamics, however, sucked. The lead singer reminded me of a very nineties Aerosmith. I was expecting Alicia Silverstone to dangle from the balcony and give them the finger any minute.
Louis XIV, thankfully, was good. The band was also followed by a camera crew which is probably why they had those signs up earlier. They were not as loud as the Raveonettes but I think that's because I was in the back and was just recuperating my sense of hearing. The lead singer's voice reminds me alot of Bowie's and I'm guessing the sound guy thought so too as he played Life on Mars and Queen Bitch just right before they came on stage.
They sound very poppy and raunchy and I really couldn't decide if they wanted to be a pop group or a metal group due to the dramatic lighting and eyeshadow.
The band also experienced a very New York moment when towards the end of the show, the lead singer decided to throw his cup full of beer at the audience for some drama. An audience member retaliated by throwing his cup of beer at the singer. It definitely made me smile. I don't know if I'd see them again. It depends on the venue. I defintely don't wanna see them at Summerstage.

yeah, ok...so 90's aerosmith does have MANY sucky moments, but come on! that alicia silverstone video of bungee jumping and flipping the finger was AWESOME!!! she was making out in a car, kicking the ass of a mugger, getting pierced all before these things were considered normal pop culture things! (so minus the mugger part). how can you consider yourself a product of our generation and not know all the words to "Cryin'"! SO WHAT if steven tyler gives you nightmares with his UGLY scarves, RASPY voice, and BARBIE-like attire!
