and secretly I want to bury you in the yard
I despise Webster Hall.
Saw the Brunettes and the Shins on their last night in NYC and it was OK. Just OK. First let me review the opening band, the Brunettes. I liked them. Heather was hawt! Anyways, they're a seven-person band hailing from New Zealand and are all very well versed in the clarinet, saxophone, keyboard, glockenspiel, cello, and of course guitars. Very unique and very indie. I must get their records.
I think this is the best picture I got of the Brunettes:

A pseudo group shot of the kiwis

Yes, they all wore Mary Kate and Ashley masks.
As for the Shins, they were alright. Not great, just alright. I've been listening to them nonstop for the past two weeks and that's all I can say about them. When I first listened to them, I just couldn't quite picture the lead sining at such a low volume when they played their guitars like that. It just wasn't feasible. The concert proved it. It sounded too engineered.

Maybe it was because of the diehard hipsters in the audience. Maybe it was the OC and Garen State obsessed people who were waving their cellphones in the air once James starting singing New Slang. It was probably both. That and the fact that I couldn't fucking take any good pictures. Nevetheless, I will continue to listen to the Shins, but I probably won't be going to one of their concerts anytime soon. Especially if it's in Webster Hall.
